Vidal-Quadras to take over as head of 3i Spain

Alejo Vidal-Quadras, director at 3i, is to take over as head of the firm's Spanish operations from Maite Ballester.
The promotion will take effect from 1 April, when Ballester becomes chairperson of the firm in Spain.
Vidal-Quadras joined 3i in 2005 as an associate, following a three-year stint as an analyst at Rothschild. In 2008, he was promoted to investment director, prior to a promotion to director in 2012.
Ballester joined 3i in 1996 as a partner, before becoming country manager in 2008. She was appointed chairman of industry association Ascri in 2010. During her leadership she prioritised raising awareness of private equity among the local entrepreneur community, according to an earlier interview with unquote".
The change does not affect the firm's strategy in Spain, according to a 3i spokesperson.
The GP's most recent transaction in the region occurred at the end of 2013, when Japanese IT services company NTT Data wholly acquired Spanish business consultancy firm Everis, allowing 3i, Hutton Collins, Grupo Landon and Ariadne to exit.
