Invitalia appoints DeA Capital's Sergio Buonanno as CEO
Italian state-backed fund manager Invitalia Ventures has appointed Sergio Buonanno as CEO.
Prior to joining Invitalia, Buonanno was managing director at DeA Capital Alternative Funds, where from 2010-2017 he led the investment strategy of the Idea Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development fund, which invests in Italian SMEs focused on manufacturing products with an improved use of energy and natural resources.
He also worked as managing director at Aladinn Ventures, a regional venture capital fund controlled by Friulia, and as investment manager within Enel's M&A team.
Buonanno will replace former CEO Salvo Mizzi, who announced in November that he was standing down to become general partner at Milan-based venture capital firm Principia.
Invitalia invests in Italian startups with equity tickets of between €500,000-1.5m, deploying capital from its fund Italia Ventures I, launched in October 2015.
