Caixa Capital Risc leads Lexdir investment
Caixa Capital Risc has led a €420,000 funding round for Lexdir, an online directory of legal professionals.
Lexdir span out of legal publishing firm vLex, which Caixa Capital Risc backed as part of a €4m investment round in 2012 to boost the firm's expansion into Latin America.
Co-investment in Lexdir was provided by vLex along with Ayce Capital Partners.
The fresh funding will enable the firm to strengthen its presence in Spain, Colombia, Mexico and Chile.
Earlier this month, Caixa Capital Risc led a €2m funding round for steel supply management company Stinser, with co-investment from Ade Capital Sodical. Caixa invested via Caixa Innvierte Industria, a €23m fund that backs Spanish SMEs in the industrial transportation, equipment and machinery sectors, and chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Company
Headquartered in Barcelona and founded in 2011, Lexdir is an online directory of legal professionals. Lawyers are organised by location and practice in the online directory. Users are then able to contact an appropriate lawyer via the platform and ask any initial questions on a specific legal topic. Lawyers are ranked by the community of users, who are able to select the professional that best suits their needs and budget.
The firm launched its platform in December 2012. Lexdir entered Latin American markets in March 2013 and redesigned its platform in November that year to facilitate interaction between users.
Around 3,000 questions are posed and answered on the platform per month, with 15,000 lawyers registered to the service. According to Lexdir, 1,200 quotes for legal services have been requested on the platform.
