Ardian increases stake in Genesi Uno to 75%
Buyout firm Ardian has increased its stake in Italian hospital services provider Genesi Uno to 75% through the acquisition of the outstanding 20% stake in Holding di Investimenti in Sanità e Infrastrutture (HISI).
Having held 80% of HISI, the GP bought the remaining 20% stake from Techint Group, an Argentinian-Italian corporate, to become sole shareholder of the business. HISI is the holding company of Genesi Uno, an Italian hospital services provider, in which the GP will retain a 75% stake following the transaction.
Previous funding
In October 2007, Ardian established HISI together with Unicredit and Techint. The GP and Unicredit retained a 40% stake each, while Techint acquired the remaining 20% stake. Ardian acquired its stake in the business through its Axa Infrastructure Fund II.
Ardian acquired Unicredit's stake in July 2013, increasing its overall shareholding to 80%.
Company
Headquartered in Legnano, HISI was founded by Ardian, Unicredit and Techint in 2007 with the aim to acquire a 65% stake in Genesi Uno.
Genesi Uno was founded in 2005 to design build and operate a 550-bed hospital in Legnano, Lombardy, called Nuovo Ospedale Civile di Legnano. Construction began in 2006 and took four years to complete. Nowadays, the company provides non-core services to the Italian hospital.
