
Fondo Italiano injects €5m into Antares
Fondo Italiano di Investmento has acquired a minority stake in Italian artificial vision systems producer Antares Vision via a €5m investment in holding company Imago Technologies.
The deal is the 24th completed by Fondo Italiano since its launch in 2010, bringing total investment value to around €240m.
The fresh capital will support the construction of new premises in Brescia and abroad, a consolidation strategy and an increased focus on research and development.
Company
In 1998, Antares's founders created SemTec, a spinout of the University of Brescia, dedicated to the design and implementation of imaging systems and three-dimensional profilometry.
In 2007, the pair launched Antares Vision, which designs, produces and installs inspection systems for the pharmaceutical sector.
The firm currently employs 90 members of staff and reported a €15.3m turnover for 2011.
