DFJ Esprit leads £8m round for Nuel
A consortium of investors led by DFJ Esprit have provided UK-based wireless technology company Nuel with £8m.
Other investors in the round included IQ Capital, Cambridge Angels as well as Nuel's founders and employees.
The fresh capital will enable Nuel to further the development of its "white space" wireless technology. The company launched its first product, NeulNET, shortly before the closing of the funding round. Neul also plans to unveil a new machine-to-machine (M2M) communication standard dubbed Weightless later in the year.
Company
Established in 2010, Cambridge-based Neul offers products and services for the emerging TV white space spectrum. Its technology uses white space radio as a wide area wireless network, with applications ranging from M2M communication to remote health monitoring.
White space radio takes advantage of TV channels that are no longer used as the UK progressively switches from analogue TV to digital TV.
People
Simon Cook led the deal for DFJ Esprit. James Collier is CEO of Neul.
