
Notion Capital backs The Currency Cloud with £2m
Notion Capital has invested £2m in UK-based payments platform The Currency Cloud.
This was the first investment from Notion Capital's second fund, which closed on $100m in April. It follows previous funding rounds by Atlas Venture and Anthemis Group, the latest of which took place in March 2012.
Notion Capital is backed by entrepreneurs and specialises in cloud computing and software-as-a-service investments. Its previous investments include Brightpearl, eSellerPro, and NewVoiceMedia.
Company
The Currency Cloud was founded in 2009 and launched to market in 2012. It offers a cloud-based cross-currency payments service that is currently used by around 100 customers, including remittance, online payments, corporate services, e-wallet and financial services firms. The company is based in London.

Jos White, partner at Notion Capital, will join Sean Park from Anthemis and Fred Destin from Atlas on the company's board.
