Octopus leads £1.25m seed round for Property Partner
Octopus Investments has led a £1.25m round for London-based Property Partner, a crowdfunding platform for buy-to-let properties.
Property partner has started taking customer registrations and stated its plans to launch the service in the coming weeks.
Ed Wray, the co-founder of UK online gambling company Betfair, European accelerator fund Seedcamp and a group of private investors also took part in the round. The investment brings the total amount raised by the company to £1.4m.
Octopus stated it was attracted by the previous track record of the company's CEO, Daniel Gandesha, and by the company's niche within the property crowdfunding market.
The VC has a well-documented history of investing in property-related services, having backed online property search website Zoopla from an early stage. Zoopla floated with a market cap of £918.8m in June, with Octopus partially exiting through the IPO.
