Episode 1 and Notion inject $2m into Triptease
Episode 1 Ventures and Notion Capital have taken part in a $2m seed round for Triptease, a software-as-a-service company providing price-comparison widgets for hotel websites.
The fresh capital will be invested in product development and marketing.
The deal comes in the same week Notion co-invested in an $11m series-A funding round for e-commerce platform Shopa, alongside Octopus Investments.
Meanwhile, the investment brings Episode 1's total number of current portfolio companies to nine. Having previously realised investments in businesses including Zoopla, LoveFilm, Shazam and Betfair, the VC recently led a $3.25m series-A round for User Replay, a provider of customer experience management software for e-commerce businesses.
Company
Founded in 2013, London-based Triptease develops widgets, which display prices offered by various online booking platforms, for hotel websites. The software is intended to increase direct bookings from within hotels' sites and reduce the amount the businesses lose in third-party commission fees. Triptease's clients include Trump Soho, Rosewood Hotels and the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.
