Octopus leads $12m round for Big Health
Octopus Ventures has led a $12m funding round for Big Health, a developer of web- and mobile-based behavioural medicine programmes.
Existing backer Index Ventures also took part in the round, alongside Innocent Drinks' investment fund JamJar Investments and Kaiser Permanente Ventures.
The fresh capital will enable the company to invest in research and product development, as well as expanding its network of clients. The company's products are currently available to employees of companies including Comcast, LinkedIn, Boston Medical Center and Henry Ford Health System.
Previous funding
Index and Forward Partners led a $3.3m series-A for Big Health in April 2014. Since then the company has launched its sleep therapy program Sleepio in the US market.
Company
Founded in 2010 and now dual-headquartered in London and San Francisco, Big Health provides personalised behavioural medicine programmes by mobile and web that draw on data collected from personal devices. The programmes are intended to automate non-drug approaches – such as cognitive behavioral therapy – to treating mental health issues.
