Beringea backs infant clothing maker My 1st Years
British investor Beringea has provided a £5m growth capital investment for children's gift site and clothing maker My 1st Years.
The venture and growth investor joined Hargreave Hale in the funding round for the personalised children’s gifts site. The fresh equity will help drive operational developments, as well as marketing and international expansion into the US.
Between 2015-2016, revenues from the website alone were up by 85%. My 1st Years forecasts a £10m turnover for 2017.
Previous Funding
My 1st Years previously secured £2m in funding from high-net-worth individuals, including Lord David Alliance, co-founder of Coats Viyella and co-owner of N Brown Group (which includes Jacamo and Simply Be in its catalogue). This brings the total amount raised by My 1st Years so far to £7m.
Company
My 1st Years is an e-commerce company that provides personalised gifts for babies and children.
It was founded by Daniel Price and Jonny Sitton in 2009 and recently gained recognition when Prince George was snapped wearing a personalised dressing gown from the company on meeting Barack Obama at Kensington Palace.
The group's products launched in Harrods last month and are also sold through notonthehighstreet.com, John Lewis and Selfridges.
