
Mercia in £5m series-A for Aston EyeTech
Mercia Technologies has invested £1.8m as part of a £5m series-A funding round for UK-based eyecare diagnostics company Aston EyeTech.
The firm secured a 19.4% stake in Aston via the transaction, which will fund product development and the launch of the company's latest products.
An Asia-based investment syndicate also took part in the funding round.
Mercia has worked alongside Aston EyeCare for three years, according to a statement, having previously invested in the startup via its managed funds portfolio at both the seed and early stages.

Aston was founded in 2014 as a spinout from Aston University, Birmingham. It develops software and produces portable and digital eye tests, which combine to diagnose and manage ocular fatigue. The business is generating revenue.
