Oxford et al. in $13m round for Import.io
A group of VC investors including Oxford Capital and Wellington Partners have backed a $13m series-A funding round for UK technology business Import.io.
Besides Oxford and Wellington, backers of the series-A round included Imperial Innovations, Open Ocean, Delin Capital and AME Cloud Ventures. Import.io will use the fresh funding to expand its team across London and San Francisco and further develop its data extraction technology.
Wellington is no stranger to Import.io, having backed the company twice previously, according to unquote" data. The VC took part in a $3m round for the London-based web data company in 2014, alongside private investors. The investment was used to open a new office in San Francisco. Wellington had led a £600,000 round for the company in March the previous year.

Founded in June 2012 and headquartered in London, Import.io is a cloud-based platform that extracts and connects data from the internet. The company stated that it saw record growth in 2015, with users creating more than a million web APIs and extracting data from more than 5.5 billion web pages.
