
Lion Capital exits La Senza
Lion Capital has sold lingerie retailer La Senza to Middle Eastern retail group Alshaya.
According to the agreement, Alshaya's UK division will receive exclusive franchise rights for the La Senza brand in the UK. It is reported that the company will buy 60 of La Senza's 146 stores.
Previously, the company experienced financial difficulties and Lion Capital appointed KPMG to advise on restructuring options.
Previous funding
Lion Capital acquired La Senza in July 2006 for £100m. GSO Capital provided senior and mezzanine debt for the transaction.
Company
La Senza is a fashion retailer, focusing on lingerie and nightwear. The company was bought out from its Canadian parent company in 1998 and is now headquartered in London. Currently it employs about 1,800 members of staff in the UK and Ireland and realised a turnover of £140m last year.
