Video: Pinebridge’s Rhonda Ryan
Kimberly Romaine speaks to Rhonda Ryan, head of Private Funds Group Europe at PineBridge Investments and one of Europe’s most experienced LPs.
With more than 15 years of experience investing in private equity, Ryan believes LPs today are more used to giving their opinion and have strong views on how LP-GP relationships should function. Balanced relationships between LPs and GPs are good for private equity, she adds.
Ryan also says first-time funds are always considered, but managers would need to demonstrate they know how to invest in and exit a business.
But track record isn't everything, according to Ryan, and deep analysis can reveal managers who have performed well only during the boom years, or have gotten lucky with a small number of major exits.
