Stage Capital spins out from NBGI Private Equity
Deutsche Bank Private Equity (DBPE) and Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) have backed the spinout of new private equity firm Stage Capital from NBGI Private Equity.
DBPE and GSAM have wholly acquired the National Bank of Greece’s commitments in 11 funds managed by NBGI for €288m. They have also invested alongside the GP’s management team to grow the existing portfolio.
Former Goldman Sachs executive director and MidOcean partner Graham Thomas will take on the role of managing partner and CEO at Stage Capital, which will initially have more than €300m in assets under management.
The firm, which is headquartered in London, invests €5-25m in private equity, venture capital and real estate deals across the UK, France, Turkey and the Balkans. Its existing investments include Aberdeen-based oil & gas services company ATR, which recently merged with competitor Centurion Group.
Greenhill Cogent Europe acted as financial adviser and Proskauer Rose acted as international legal counsel to NBGI on the sale.
