Regulators still missing the mark
Almost half of financial service professionals do not believe that any national regulator has managed to strike the correct balance for investors and growth, according to a global survey by Kinetic Partners.
The 2014 Global Regulatory Outlook survey looked into regulators' abilities to strike a good balance between protecting investors, stabilising the financial system and creating an optimum framework for growth.
Of the 49% surveyed who shared the view that no one regulator has yet managed to achieve this balance, the majority were based in the UK and US.
According to Kinetic, just 18% of global participants in the survey found that the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) had struck a good balance. This rose to 20% of participants that were based in the UK.
