Eurazeo in talks to buy chocolate brands from Mondelez
Listed buyout firm Eurazeo has entered discussions to purchase more than 10 European chocolate and confectionery brands from Mondelez International.
The targeted brands include Poulain, Carambar, Krema, La Pie Qui Chante, Terry's, Pastilles Vichy, Suchard Pralines and Malabar. Eurazeo has not disclosed the names of the other brands.
Following the deal, Eurazeo will merge the companies in a new group, also acquiring five French manufacturing facilities in Blois, Marcqen-Baroel, Saint-Genest, Strasbourg and Vichy.
According to press reports, Eurazeo aims to revitalise the brands within the merged group. The deal is expected to close by Q2 2017 at the latest. Eurazeo declined to comment at the time of publication.
As part of the deal, former CEO of Orangina-Schweppes France Patrick Mispolet and former Spotless CEO Pierre Le Tanneur will invest alongside Eurazeo and become non-executive directors of the new group.
