Paua et al. back mbrace
Paua Ventures, Astutia Ventures and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft have provided a seven-digit investment in a seed funding round for mbrace, a German social discovery and dating app.
Several business angels also took part in the early-stage funding round.
The fresh capital will allow mbrace to bolster its workforce, as well as launch its app in new locations and improve its product.
Company
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Berlin, mbrace has developed a social discovery and dating app similar to popular US app Tinder. The company's app allows users to connect through Facebook to view other users and decide whether they are interested through photos, mutual friends and shared interests. If two users "like" each other, a match is made and they can chat in the app.
The company claims its unique selling point is its challenge feature. Whereas "liking" another user's profile is anonymous, a user can publicly accept a challenge posted by another user. If the challenge is completed, the two users can chat through the app.
The mbrace app is available on Android, iOS and on the web.
