Delivery Hero picks up pizza.de
Online food delivery platform Delivery Hero, backed by VC investors including Holtzbrinck Ventures, has acquired former competitor pizza.de.
According to reports in the German media, the acquisition is said to have cost Delivery Hero up to €290m. Together, the two companies are said to be worth in the region of €1bn.
The newly-combined entity will focus on international growth, particularly in Asia and Latin America.
The two companies will remain as independent brands. Customers of Delivery Hero will benefit from pizza.de's technology including real-time delivery tracking. Restaurants offered by both brands will now be serviced by a single point of contact.
