Capnamic et al. invest in tausendkind
Capnamic Ventures and Iris Capital have led a funding round of between €5-9m for online children’s clothing shop tausendkind.
New investors Rheinische Post media group, MGO Digital Ventures and business angel Nicole Junkermann participated in the funding round, alongside existing backers PDV Inter-media Venture and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft.
The fresh capital has been earmarked for marketing and increasing the company's product range. According to tausendkind, the market for baby and children's products in Germany is worth €10bn, 20% of which is generated online.
In 2013, Capnamic and Iris entered into a partnership agreement to make early-stage investments in Germany. As a result, Iris's OP Ventures Early Stage invests alongside the Capnamic Ventures Fund in fast-growing German digital start-ups. In early March, the VCs invested €2.2m in SaaS provider LeanIX's series-A funding round.

Founded in 2010, tausendkind offers 300 brands on its online baby and childrenswear shop. The store also sells baby accessories and toys. Headquartered in Berlin, it has 50 employees.
