Global Founders in $3m round for FreightHub
Global Founders Capital and Cherry Ventures have backed a $3m round for German logistics startup FreightHub.
The business, which took up operations in August this year, claims to be in a €150bn market, with 30 million containers on the move each day globally.
FreightHub said in a statement it hopes to further digitalise the container logistics market. The business targets to ship 500 containers before year-end and a five-figure number in 2017. It also plans to grow its team from its current 15 staff to 30-40.
The business was co-founded by Ferry Heilemann, whose first startup Daily Deals, a provider of daily online flash purchase offers, was exited by Adinvest and Mangrove Capital Partners in September 2011. The VCs sold their stake for approximately $114m to Google.
Company
Founded in 2016 and based in Berlin, FreightHub organises transportation for freight shipments. The business claims to be a full-service freight forwarder where customers can organise their shipments via a digital interface. It currently employs 15 people.
