XAnge, Idinvest et al. in €15m Wandercraft series-B
A consortium of French investors has taken part in a €15m series-B funding round for robotics firm Wandercraft.
XAnge Private Equity, Idinvest Partners, Cemag Invest and BPI France provided funding to the company for the first time, while existing shareholder LBO France also took part in the round.
The latter invested via its Sisa growth fund, which now counts nine investments. Traditionally focused on buyouts, LBO France made a move into venture in 2016 when it acquired VC firm Innovation Capital from Caisse des Dépôts, thereby inheriting the firm's existing €68m in commitments.
Wandercraft intends to use the fresh funds to scale up its team, obtain approval from healthcare authorities for its exoskeleton project, enter the global rehabilitation centre market, and develop a retail version of the exoskeleton.
Company
Established in 2012, Wandercraft aims to design an exoskeleton allowing wheelchair-bound people to walk again. The product is currently undergoing clinical trials, with Wandercraft claiming the technology and algorithms will successfully mimic human walking patterns.
The company is based in Paris and employs 30 staff.
