
BC’s Mergermarket bolts on Perfect Information
BC Partners portfolio company Mergermarket Group has acquired Perfect Information (PI), a London-based provider of software for corporate finance, for £26m.
Mergermarket has acquired the business from B2B media group Centaur Media.
The company's workflow tools will become part of Mergermarket Group, sitting alongside brands such as Mergermarket, Debtwire, Dealreporter, WealthMonitor and PaRR, Infinata and Xtract Research.
BC acquired Mergermarket from Pearson Group in December last year for £382m. BC emerged as the successful bidder following news in September that several private equity firms were courting the business, namely HgCapital and Advent International.
Pearson had acquired Mergermarket in August 2006 through its subsidiary, Financial Times Group, from Beringea, according to unquote" data.
Company
Founded in 1991 and headquartered in London, PI provides software and workflow tools to corporate finance houses.
Its product base includes corporate finance and capital markets database Filings Expert, which launched earlier this year; global fixed income securities database PI Debt; and UK company filings database PI Private Company Data.
The company claims to have a client base of around 17,000 across 42 countries in Europe, Asia and North America. It generated revenues of £6.1m for the year ending June 2013, as well as an operating profit of £1.4m.
