Trustpilot raises $73.5m series-D from Vitruvian
Vitruvian Partners has led a $73.5m series-D for Danish business reviews website Trustpilot, in one of the largest-ever VC funding rounds for a Danish start-up.
Existing investors DFJ Esprit, Index Ventures, Northzone and Seed Capital were among the main contributors to the round, which brings the total capital raised by the business to $118m.
According to unquote" data, fewer than half a dozen Danish companies have raised a similar or higher amount of VC funding in the past decade.
The company will use the fresh funding to fuel its international growth, following on from a year in which Trustpilot's revenue grew by 80%.
Previous funding
Trustpilot first raised capital in January 2011 when Seed Capital invested DKK 5.5m, which was followed by a Northzone-led round of €3.3m in November that year.
Northzone followed its first investment with an undisclosed top-up in November 2012, taking the VC's stake to 35%.
Index Ventures joined the investor group a month later, leading a €10m fourth funding round alongside Seed Capital and Northzone.
In January 2014, DFJ Esprit lead a $25m series-C for the company.

Trustpilot is a Danish website that allows users to write reviews of businesses. The company was founded in 2007 and currently has 13 million reviews of 100,000 companies on its website.
The company operates in 65 countries and has offices in London, New York and Melbourne, employing 400 people.

Partner Ben Johnson led the investment for Vitruvian. Peter Holten Mühlmann is the founder and CEO of Trustpilot. Tim Weller, the chief executive of unquote" publisher Incisive Media, is non-executive chairman of TrustPilot.
