Oxford leads $1.75m round for Moneybox
Oxford Capital has led a $1.75m funding round for UK fintech company Moneybox, with existing backer Samos Investments also taking part.
On completion of the deal, Moneybox will appoint Daniel Godfrey – formerly director general of the Association of Investment Companies and chief executive of the Investment Association – as board director.
The fresh capital will enable the company to bring its savings and investment app to market and invest in further development. The company is due to launch a beta version in the coming weeks, with a full launch anticipated in August.
The transaction marks Oxford Capital's third investment of 2016. In January the firm joined Wellington Partners in a $13m series-A for Import.io, as well as taking part in a $8.2m round for Push Doctor alongside Draper Esprit and Partech Ventures.
Previous funding
The latest fundraising round brings the total amount raised by Moneybox to $4.75m. Samos and online gambling company Betfair led a $3m funding round for the company in January 2016.
Company
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in London, Moneybox is a savings and investment app that collects "spare change" from users' card transactions and stocks & shares ISAs.
