ABN AMRO stresses importance of private equity to the bank's strategy…
ABN AMRO Capital has held a media briefing to address rumours concerning the bank’s commitment to the business. It is claimed that discussions regarding the possible combination of ABN AMRO Capital's portfolio of Dutch IT-related investments with a third party gave rise to speculation that larger-scale divestment opportunities might also be under consideration. Wilco Jiskoot, chairman of ABN AMRO's wholesale clients corporate and investment division, and Gerben Kuyper, global head of ABN AMRO Capital, insisted that the division is a core part of the bank going forward. Last year, ABN AMRO Capital announced a similar combination of its French IT investments with the private equity interests of La Poste to form a new venture called Xange. Meanwhile, in June 2004, a portfolio of German investments was sold to three members of the management team to form new company DDN Capital Partners
