ABN Amro announces losses
ABN Amro has posted losses of (294m in its corporate and investment banking divisions for 2002, as compared with a profit of (187m for the previous year. Write-downs of (262m in the bank's private equity portfolio, particularly in the IT, telecoms and life sciences sectors, hit the group's revenues, although it is believed that these losses were lower in the fourth quarter than in the third.
