GIMV named as defendant in US lawsuit
GIMV has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by the Dictaphone Litigation Trust in Massachusetts federal court, along with 42 other defendants, alleging damages, before statutory trebling, of $900m. The lawsuit arises out of the May 2000 acquisition by Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products (LHSP) of Dictaphone Corporation. GIMV denies all of the allegations in the lawsuit and, in particular, denies that it sold any LHSP stock in 2000 after learning of an investigation of LHSP by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. The lawsuit is part of an American civil proceeding and is not part of the criminal investigation which is currently pending against other parties in the Belgian court of justice. GIMV intends to take all appropriate steps to have it terminated as soon as possible.
