Van Lanschot Participaties to spin out from bank
Dutch bank Van Lanschot Kempen has announced the intention to sell its private equity division Van Lanschot Participaties, while retaining a minority interest.
Constant Korthout, Van Lanschot Kempen's chief financial and risk officer, said Van Lanschot Kempen will continue to own the current portfolio and retain a minority interest as a cornerstone investor.
The new fund will include all stakes acquired since 1 January 2016, as well as all future investments.
It is understood that the spin-out is due to significant appetite for private equity investments from Van Lanschot Kempen's clients.
Van Lanschot Participaties typically acquires a shareholding with voting rights between 20-50%. The companies in which it invests must have an operating profit greater than €3m, and initial investments usually range between €5-15m. Van Lanschot Participaties claims to have invested in 100 companies since 1982.
