Level 20 launches Amsterdam committee
The board of Level 20, the not-for-profit body established to promote women in the private equity industry, has launched a committee in Amsterdam.
The Dutch launch follows the formation of the Level 20 German committee earlier this year and the foundation of Level 20 in London in 2015.
Led by Ruulke Bagijn, managing director and co-head of AlpInvest Partners' primary investments team, the Dutch committee comprises a group of private equity investors based in the Netherlands: Wilshire Private Markets' Ilona Brom, Apax Partners' Ellen de Kreij, NIBC's Brigitte van der Maarel, Karmijn Kapitaal's Cilian Jansen Verplanke and Bencis's Lesley van Zutphen.
The newly formed committee will aim to further the Level 20 objectives, which include attracting more women into the PE industry across the Netherlands and ensuring as many women as possible develop their careers in PE, as well as supporting women to reach the most senior levels of the industry.
To achieve these goals, the committee will organise and run events and initiatives including networking events, an outreach programme for top business schools and universities, and a mentoring programme, where male and female mentors regularly meet with mentees for both formal and informal guidance sessions.
Level 20 is a not-for-profit organisation formed and seeded by 12 senior private equity professionals representing GPs and LPs. It aims to work with the European private equity industry to attract and retain more women across the industry, such that they will account for 20% of senior professionals. It has financial support from 46 GPs including venture capital, growth capital, buyout and global alternative asset management firms.
