
Karmijn Kapitaal appoints van der Maarel as managing partner
Karmijn Kapitaal, a Dutch private equity fund focusing on diversity and inclusion, has appointed Brigitte van der Maarel as managing partner.
Van der Maarel will join the firm on 1 October from NIBC, where she has been co-head of investment partners since 2017. She has 25 years of experience in private equity, leveraged finance and M&A across various roles for ABN Amro, ING, Inkef Capital and Convent Capital, among others.
Van der Maarel was already working with Karmijn, having been a member of the investment committee since 2017.
The Netherlands-headquartered PE firm held a first close in June for its third fund, which has a hard-cap of EUR 120m. The fund is targeting around EUR 100m and will follow the same strategy as its predecessor funds (which are fully invested).
Karmijn Kapitaal II deployed equity tickets of around EUR 2m-10m, according to Unquote Data, making both buyout deals and minority investments. Karmijn Kapitaal III can deploy tickets in the EUR 2m-12m range, with an average ticket of EUR 6m. The vehicle will target businesses with enterprise values of EUR 10m-30m and will make around 12 platform deals.
