Capricorn and LRM invest €20m in Ducatt
Capricorn Venture Partners and LRM have invested €20m in Belgian solar glass start-up Ducatt.
The backers have agreed to contribute €10m each to the project. The balance of the financial requirements will be met with bank loans.
Capricorn invested through its €100m Cleantech Fund, a vehicle raised in 2008. LRM is an investment company that, besides making direct investments, also has a stake in Capricorn Cleantech Fund.
The banning of the incandescent light bulbs from the European market in 2012 led Emro - a joint-venture between Phillips Lighting and Osram - to spin out its light bulb production activities. Two members of the Emgo management team have initiated a new activity under the Ducatt name. The light bulb production line will be converted into a specialty glass production facility for the photovoltaic industry.
