GEM hires KKR's van Remmen
Gilde Equity Management Benelux has hired Thijs van Remmen, formerly of KKR, as an investment director.
Van Remmen focused on investments in the Benelux region and the digital media sector while at KKR.
During his time at the firm, van Remmen managed KKR's investment in Van Gansewinkel and was responsible for the divestment of AVR Afvalverwerking – Van Gansewinkel's energy-from-waste division – in June this year to the Cheung Kong Group consortium for €940m. KKR and CVC acquired Van Gansewinkel in February 2007 for a reported €800m and proceeded to merge the business with AVR. The two firms had acquired AVR in January 2006 for €1.4bn.
Van Remmen has also gained investment banking and consultancy experience in positions at Goldman Sachs and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
