
Doughty Hanson sells Impress for €1.7bn
Doughty Hanson & Co has exited its investment in metal packaging producer Impress Coöperatieve U.A. in a €1.7bn trade sale to Ardagh Glass.
The exit gives Doughty Hanson a 2.6x return on investment and allows the investor to liquidate Fund II, giving the fund total returns of 2.7x and an IRR of 84%.
Doughty Hanson created Impress in 1997 through the acquisition and merger of Pechiney S.A. and Schmalbach Lubeca A.G. The investor has supported the growth of the company through add-on acquisitions. Impress has sales of approximately €1.8bn and employs 7,500.
