3i acquires Stork subsidiary for €150m
3i has acquired Dutch engineering company Stork Materials Technology, a subsidiary of Stork BV, for €150m.
Stork was acquired by Candover in 2007 for €1.5bn and the investor has decided to sell the testing subsidiary as it was seen as a non-core activity. 3i has underwritten the full transaction amount.
The transaction will support growth of the company by giving access to 3i's global network and the possibility to expand through acquisitions.
Stork Materials Technology is a network of independent, accredited laboratories providing testing solutions to industry throughout Europe and the US. The company supports businesses with materials testing, product qualification testing, failure analysis, consulting and calibration services. SMT employs approximately 800 staff.
