Potential AlpInvest sale gains momentum
The potential sale of ABP- and PGGM-owned AlpInvest Partners, which surfaced earlier this year, is said to be reaching its final stages.
According to reports, Carlyle Group, HarbourVest Partners and Grosvenor Capital Management are competing in the auction for the private equity firm. The Dutch fund-of-funds investor has €46bn under management and invests in private equity funds and provides junior debt.
ABP and PGGM are reported to be selling AlpInvest due to public criticism related to the pay packages of some of the top executives. The auction is said to have attracted considerable interest from other investment groups and private equity firms, in addition to the group still in the final stages of the auction.
