Gilde sells Roompot Vakanties to PAI Partners
PAI Partners has acquired Dutch holiday accommodation company Roompot Vakanties from Gilde Buyout Partners.
PAI, which invested through PAI Europe VI, acquired the group from Gilde, as well as from BNP Paribas Fortis, the management team and founder Henk van Koeveringe.
Gilde, BNP and the founder have all fully exited the group, while management will retain a minority stake in the new structure.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Dutch media reported the enterprise value for the deal could be in the region of €600m.
In recent years, Roompot has expanded its activity, with new services including property management, special care facilities and on-site care for visiting customers. Other recent developments include the acquisition of Hogenboom Vakantieparken in 2009 and the introduction of Roompot Travel in 2010.
The acquisition by PAI will help the group towards its goal of enhancing the overall quality of existing parks and accommodations and keep expanding its network abroad. The company, which started off in the Netherland's Zeeland region, will continue to focus on coastal recreational parks.
Roompot also plans to increase its workforce in some key locations. The management team, currently led by Jurgen van Cutsem, will stay in place for the next five years, the new investor said.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Previous funding
Gilde Buyout Partners invested in the group in 2011 via its €800m Buyout Fund IV, closed in 2010.
Company
Roompot Vakanties operates holiday resorts and parks, camping sites and hotels in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and France. The company's head office is located in Kamperland.
Founded in 1965, Roompot now counts 200 holiday parks and received two million visitors over the last two years. The group currently employs 1,059 people, and registered a €281m turnover in its most recent financial year.
