Towerbrook acquires Van Dijk Educatie
Towerbrook Capital Partners has acquired a majority stake in Van Dijk Educatie, a Netherlands-based provider of education-related products.
Under its new owners, the business will undertake an international growth strategy.
The firm has been looking for a strategic backer since February 2016, according to a report by education trade publication Education Investor.
The deal marks Towerbrook's fifth European investment of 2016, according to unquote" data. It also marks the firm's second deal in the education sector this year, with the GP having acquired a minority stake in nurseries manager La Maison Bleue from Activa Capital and EPF Partners in October.
Company
Founded in 1937 and headquartered in Overijssel, Van Dijk provides textbooks, educational books and education-related products such as study cards and calculators.
The company generates a turnover of €303m, according to a statement issued by the GP, and has links to 780 secondary and higher education institutions across the Netherlands and Belgium. According to the aforementioned report by Education Investor, Van Dijk generates EBITDA of around €50m.
