Main Capital acquires Muis Software
Benelux-focused private equity house Main Capital has taken a majority stake in Dutch software-as-a-service (SaaS) group Muis Software.
Main Capital did not disclose financial details of the transaction. The GP is currently investing from its fourth buyout fund, Main Capital IV (MC IV), closed with commitments of €85m in 2015, above its initial €75m target.
MC IV focuses on the software industry in Benelux and Germany, investing in businesses with a turnover in excess of €4m with tickets ranging between €5-12m. Other portfolio companies for MC IV so far include Axxerion, acquired in June last year, and Roxit, which marked the first investment made with the vehicle in 2015.
More recent investments also included the acquisition of digital customer relationship management (CRM) platform Artegic, which was one of Main's first investments in the DACH region since the GP announced the opening of its Dusseldorf office in August last year. With this expansion, Main said it aimed to better support Benelux-based software companies looking to expand into the DACH area, and to grow its portfolio there too.
Muis Software's customers are currently mostly based in the Netherlands. With Main Capital's support, Muis is planning to fund its organic growth, and to expand into new territories, including the wider Benelux, the UK and Germany.
