Vendis backs Kamera Express
Vendis Capital has acquired a majority stake in photo and video equipment retailer Kamera Express alongside management.
A source close to the deal has disclosed that Vendis acquired the stake previously owned by founder Peter Merceij, which was deemed significant. The deal was lightly leveraged.
The participation in Kamera represents the seventh investment from Vendis Capital II, the €180m fund which closed in May 2016.
The vehicle provides tickets ranging between €5-40m per transaction, targeting companies with sales of around €10-120m, according to Unquote Data.
Company
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Capelle aan de IJssel, Kamera is a retailer of photo and video equipment. The company generates sales from its large superstores and a strong e-commerce platform. Kamera operates 16 superstores, of which 15 in the Netherlands and one in Belgium, together with an online shop, employing 240 staff.
