Nimbus buys H van Wijnen
Dutch private equity firm Nimbus has acquired a majority stake in Krimpen-based salmon smoker H van Wijnen.
The company had been suffering financial problems and needed a cash injection, according to Dutch daily Het Financieele Dagblad.
Nimbus generally invests in medium-sized businesses with turnover of between €10-500m, across Benelux, DACH and Poland.
Company
H van Wijnen was founded in 1864 and is headquartered in the Dutch town of Krimpen aan den Ijssel. It is located next to what was once the largest salmon landing port in mainland Europe and uses vacuum, MAP and monopacks to ship its smoked salmon all over Europe.
The company employs 200 people and generated sales of €45m in 2017, according to Het Financieele Dagblad.
