
Karmijn Kapitaal backs Picturae
Karmijn Kapitaal has invested in Netherlands-based Picturae, a business organising the digitisation, management and storage of digital cultural heritage and historical materials.
Karmijn invests in Dutch SMEs, providing equity tickets of €2-12.5m to businesses with a minimum of €5m in turnover. Backed companies need to be managed by a balanced team of men and women.

Founded in 1997 and based in Heiloo, Picturae specialises in the digitisation, management and storage of cultural heritage and historical materials, such as herbaria, manuscripts, photographs, film and audio.
The business has a branch in New York and a production site in Montpellier. Some of the firms' clients include Amsterdam City Archives, MoMa, Unesco, the Smithsonian Institution, the Frick Collection and the Van Gogh Museum.
Picturae currently employs around 195 people. The business expects revenues to grow to €100m in eight years' time.
