Waterland buys Debuut
Waterland Private Equity has acquired a majority stake in Dutch restaurant group Debuut from the company's founder, Ruud van Rietschoten.
The GP is currently investing from its seventh buyout fund, which held a final close hitting its €2bn target in August 2017 after two months on the road. The fund invests in medium-sized companies based in Benelux, DACH, Poland, the UK and the Nordic region. As with previous funds, the GP applies a buy-and-build investment strategy when deploying capital.
Waterland plans to bolster Debuut's growth strategy and intends to provide additional capital to support the company's management team in this new phase of expansion.
Company
Founded in 1982 by Ruud van Rietschoten and headquartered in Utrecht, Debuut manages restaurants located in 29 cities across the Netherlands, including De Waag in Leiden, Stan&Co and Popocatepetl the Mexican in Arnhem, and Usine in Eindhoven.
