Nimbus backs Koninklijke Van Zanten
Dutch private equity firm Nimbus has acquired Netherlands-based plants and flowers producer Koninklijke Van Zanten from the Veldhuijzen van Zanten family.
Following the deal, Koninklijke Van Zanten's board and management team will continue to lead the company.
According to a statement, the fresh capital will be used to boost the company's growth and optimise its production capability. In addition, Koninklijke Van Zanten intends to further develop its R&D department, which focuses on improving plants' disease resistance, quality control and suitability, and increasing automation and efficiency in the production process.
Company
Established in 1862 and based in Rijsenhout, Koninklijke Van Zanten specialises in producing plants, flowers and bulbs for the international ornamental horticulture industry. The business consists of three companies: Corporate Royal Van Zanten, Van Zanten Breeding and Van Zanten Flowerbulbs. Its product offering includes odorless oriental lily tourega, white chrysanthemum chic and alstroemelia charmelia. Koninklijke Van Zanten has 1,400 employees and generated a turnover of around €65m in 2017, according to press reports.
