Waterland buys EuroParcs majority stake
Waterland has bought a majority stake in Netherlands-based holiday resorts operator EuroParcs, investing alongside management.
The management retained a substantial minority stake, Unquote understands.
The GP has invested via its Waterland Private Equity Fund VII, which held a €2bn final close in 2017.
Over the next two years, Waterland plans to make a number of capital injections in the business to accelerate its growth both in the Netherlands and in other European countries.
EuroParcs started operating resorts abroad in 2018, the online publication pretwerk.nl reported.
The GP has experience with the travel sector, having acquired online travel agency Otravo in 2016. However, EuroParcs would be the firm's first investment in a holiday resort operator, according to Unquote Data.
Company
EuroParcs develops and operates holiday resorts. The company, headquartered in Apeldoorn, has 300 employees, says Het Financieele Dagblad. It owns 14 resorts across the Netherlands and Belgium, according to its website.
