
DFJ et al. in $14.5m round for Bright Computing
DFJ Esprit and DFJ have co-led a $14.5m series-B funding round for Bright Computing, an Amsterdam-based software company.
Co-investment was provided by Prime Ventures and existing backer ING Corporate Investments.
The company will use the fresh funding to further develop its cluster management software, increase its global partnerships and boost the support it gives enterprise accounts.
DFJ Esprit is the European arm of Silicon Valley-based DFJ Global Network, which includes California-based DFJ.
Previous funding
In 2010, ING Corporate Investments made an equity commitment to the business in exchange for a minority stake.
Company
Founded in 2009 and based in Amsterdam, Bright Computing has developed management software for high performance computing, storage and databases. The firm has 400 clients including 20 Fortune 500 companies, government labs and research institutes.
Partners include Amazon, Cisco, Cray and Dell.
People
As part of the funding round, DFJ partner Bill Bryant, Prime Ventures partner Alexander Ribbink, DFJ Esprit partner Richard Marsh and ING chief information security officer Rob Bening will join Bright's board.
