Herkules Capital-backed New Store Europe buys Shopex
Herkules Capital's portfolio company New Store Europe has acquired shop fitting business Shopex.
According to the investor, Shopex is well-positioned in the Benelux market and the core competencies of the two companies will create synergies on many fronts. The acquisition will support the global sourcing operation and strengthen the internationalisation.
In April, Herkules Capital invested fresh cash to back New Store Europe's add-on acquisition of Kleerex.
New Store Europe was founded in 2007 following the merger of Norwegian business Grøn-Hansen Butikkinnredninger AS and Swedish company Samuelsons Inredngingar AB. Headquartered in Oslo, the company has offices in 10 countries and generated revenues of NOK 774m in 2009. The group employs 380 people.
New Store and Shopex together are expected to generate revenues of €250m and will have a workforce of 850 people.
Shopex is based in 's-Hertogenbosch and employs about 280 people. It was founded 40 years ago and has offices in the Netherlands, Belgium and China.
