Wilshire raises $615m global fund-of-funds

Wilshire Private Markets has closed its eighth global private equity fund-of-funds on $615m, exceeding its $600m target. The fund, which is structured as a Delaware limited liability partnership, follows Wilshire Private Markets Fund VII, which closed near the end of 2006. Fund VIII has a 10-year lifespan plus extensions and a minimum subscription of $10m. Ropes & Gray provided legal advice.
Investors
LPs include major pension funds, endowments, foundations and financial institutions based in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Investments
Wilshire Private Markets Fund VIII will invest in buyouts, venture capital and distressed private equity assets through primary investments in limited partnerships, secondary transactions and co-investment opportunities. Wilshire typically focuses on mid-market buyouts and early-stage venture capital.
Historically, each of its funds has invested in the US, Europe and Asia and have given LPs the ability to specify their geographic preferences.
People
The fund is managed by the Wilshire Private Markets team, which consists of 45 investment professionals operating from offices in Santa Monica, Pittsburgh, New York, Amsterdam, Canberra and Tokyo.
