Intel Capital et al. invest $11m in Amplidata
Intel Capital has led an $11m funding round for Amplidata, a Belgian provider of big data storage systems, alongside the company’s other existing venture capital backers.
Endeavour Vision, Hummingbird Ventures, Quantum and Swisscom Ventures took part in the round alongside Intel.
The fresh capital will be used by Amplidata to invest in its research and development team, as well as expand on its sales and marketing initiatives.
Including the new capital injection, Amplidata has raised a total of $33m in funding since inception.
Previous funding
Amplidata first received funding in May 2010. Hummingbird provided €2.5m to the company in its series-A round.
This was followed in September of the same year by a further injection of $6m. The round was led by Hummingbird with participation from Endeavour and Swisscom.
In February 2012, Amplidata secured a further $8m in its series-C round from Hummingbird, Endeavour, Swisscom and new backer Intel.
In September of the same year, the four firms injected an additional $6m into the company.

Founded in 2008, Amplidata is headquartered in Lochristi, Belgium, with a US office located in Milpitas, California.
Amplidata provides cloud-based data storage systems for businesses. The company's AmpliStor software is designed to allow for mass amounts of data to be stored.
The company is partnered with Quantum, Symantec, Intel and FileTek.
People
Mike Wall is the chairman and CEO of Amplidata. Endeavour partner Dominique Pitteloud and Hummingbird managing partner Frank Maene sit on the company's board of directors.
